Managing diabetes

Diabetes mellitus (DM), simply means high blood sugar level; has become the global epidemic, affecting 285 million adult (6.4% of global population) by year 2010 and is likely to affect more than 430 million (7.7% of global population ) by 2030.There is so many Managing diabetes techniques.

Deadliest complication of diabetes is development of cardiovascular disease (CVD). Compared with non-diabetics, a person with DM has a two to four fold increased risk for development of & death from coronary heart disease, also two to five fold increased risk for development of heart failure. The principle reason for this heightened risk in patients of DM is accelerated development & progression of atherosclerosis (deposition of bad cholesterol in the walls of the arteries).

As recommended by the American Heart Association (AHA) lifestyle interventions like smoking cessation, at least 150 minutes of moderate intensity aerobic physical activity weekly and weight reduction remains the cornerstone for prevention of atherosclerotic complication in patients of diabetes. Beyond lifestyle; medications like blood pressure and bad cholesterol reducing drugs also effectively reduce CVD risk in patients of diabetes.
