Embrace your inner ninja with the Forza workout! This samurai exercise involves getting fit with the help of swords! Well, actually not real blades but weighted wooden swords. According to reports, actor Shahid Kapoor, too, endorses it. The actor recently added this workout to his existing fitness routine to prep for his role of a warrior in his next film.
Inspired by the ancient Japanese sword fighting technique, the workout was first developed by fitness expert Ilaria Montagnani. Based on kendo and Aikijujutsu the exercise is usually set to music so that you can synchronize your movement better. It involves doing controlled sword movements in choreographed combinations at high speeds. Hence, it requires tremendous focus.
How it helps
Apart from being a cardiovascular workout, it builds muscle and burns fat. In fact, an hour-long session can burn anything up to 500 calories! Also, when you’re doing the movement with your arms when you cut with the wooden sword, you can do those movements either in a lunge, or squat or a deep step. This way, your legs, glutes and the core all get exercised.
