Somewhere along the way, smoothies got complicated. The easy grab-and-go breakfast turned into a trough of tough-to-find ingredients as puzzling to put together as Ikea furniture.Time to get back to basics! We whipped up 6 filling smoothie recipes made with just three ingredients to power you through to lunch. Here’s another way to boost your energy, and lose up to 25 pounds in the process:

Strawberry Cashew:

Ingredients: ⅓ c raw cashew pieces, 1 c water, 1 tsp pure vanilla extract, 1 ¾ c frozen strawberries.
Combine cashew pieces, water, and vanilla and blend until creamy. Add frozen strawberries and blend again until smooth.
Try This: Substitute 1 tsp maple syrup for vanilla for extra sweetness.

Blueberry Blitz

Ingredients:  1 c plain unsweetened almond milk, 1 ¼ c frozen blueberries, 2 Tbsp almond butter
Almond butter doesn’t overpower this smoothie; it adds just the right amount of creaminess to let the blueberries shine.
Combine ingredients and blend until smooth.

Rise & Shine Smoothie

Ingredients: ¾ c (6 oz) plain Greek yogurt, 1 ¼ c frozen mango chunks, Handful baby spinach, ½ c water.
Get your fruit and greens—plus 18 grams of protein via Greek yogurt—with this bright and cheery morning sip.
Combine ingredients and blend until smooth.

Berry Chocolate Chiller

Ingredients: 1 ¼ c unsweetened chocolate almond milk, 2 scoops chocolate protein powder, 1 ½ c mixed frozen berries.

Berries and cocoa powder are both packed with fiber. Invite protein powder to the party and you’ve got a smoothie with extra staying power. Combine ingredients and blend until smooth.

Lemon Love

Ingredients: 

2 Tbsp fresh lemon juice,  ½ c canned coconut milk, 2 scoops vanilla protein powder, Handful ice.

 

This sunrise smoothie wakes up your tastes buds with a lemon meringue buzz.
Combine ingredients and blend until smooth.
Try This: Add ¼ tsp turmeric powder for an anti-inflammatory boost.

Chunky Monkey

Ingredients: ⅓ c walnut pieces, 1 Tbsp cocoa powder, ½ c water, 1 frozen banana, Handful ice

Move over Ben & Jerry’s, this healthy 3-ingredient spin on the ice cream is totally legit for breakfast.Blend together walnuts, cocoa powder, and water until creamy. Add frozen banana and ice cubes and whirl until smooth.

Try This: Substitute ¼ c hemp seeds for walnut pieces.
